Greensboro, NC – March 12, 2013 – Foster-Caviness Company, Inc. is proud to announce and welcome Patricia “Trish” Tripp as the Company’s Director of Sustainability, Food Safety and Local Resources. Tripp will be responsible for ensuring compliance of all sustainability and food safety practices, fostering relationships with our growers and promoting locally grown products through community partnerships.  She joins the Foster-Caviness team with an array of experience in the food and agriculture industries. Since 1995, Trish has been committed to sustainability, food security and public health. She was a partner and member of the Board of Directors of Wisdom Media Group, a multi-platform media company targeting individuals interested in global change, social awareness and healthy living. Following her passion for food, she became a restaurateur of 14 years. As an advocate for safe, nutritious and sustainable food production, Trish has successfully partnered with farmers, schools and local health departments to support and enhance this mission through community awareness and public health education. She has conducted research and developed strategies to support small farms on a local level. Most recently, she held a position as Seed Manager and Product Innovation Specialist for one of the nation’s leading specialty produce growers. Trish earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry from Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia and a Masters of Science Degree in Agricultural and Life Sciences from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) located in Blacksburg, Virginia. She currently holds certifications in multiple food safety schemes.

Customer Service & Sales
Our Customer Service Specialists are well versed on the products we offer, as well as the systems and procedures that ensure the product gets to our customers in a timely manner. Our phone, web-based, or fax ordering systems are open 7 days a week, with customized ordering price lists sent weekly upon request by mail, email, or fax. To develop stronger relationships with our customers, each Customer Service Specialist is responsible for a specific Market Partner/Customer base. For new customers, our experienced Sales Force consults on what program will best fit their needs, while assisting in providing training on our products and processes.

Quality Control & Food Safety Specialists
Food quality and safety is a first priority at Foster-Caviness. Our team is committed to selecting only the best quality and value produce available on the market today. Daily  inspections are made on all incoming produce to ensure a consistent product. Proper handling procedures, total warehouse refrigeration as well as equipment and facility sanitation insure against the risk of contamination of our product before it leaves our docks. The result is a safe, consistent, and high quality product. As our symbol of quality states, our product is Fresh & Pure Assured™.

Inventory Management & Order Picking

The way produce is treated once accepted into our facility makes the difference in freshness and quality.  Our Inventory Managers make sure each product is carefully staged in one of three differenct climate controlled areas, depending on its optimal storage temperature.  When an order is placed for partial cases of a particular item, our Order Pickers ensure that the produce is handled safetly, and that the counts provided are accurate.  This also serves as another “checkpoint for quality,” before our procuce leaves our facility to our market partners

Dispatch & Delivery Associates
Foster-Caviness’ modern fleet of more than 50 state-of-the art refrigerated trucks ensure not only that our deliveries are prompt and dependable, but that the quality produce inside is kept at the perfect temperature for maximum freshness. Our professional and courteous delivery associates maintain familiar routes in order to develop meaningful one-on-one relationships with our customers, and gain a thorough knowledge and understanding of what is expected by each individual market partner. To promote accountability and food safety, each delivery associate wears a recognizable uniform and is assigned identification badges. To keep in close contact with our delivery associates in the field, each carries a cell phone for quick communication and responsive .

Purchasing & Procurement Partners
A large part of our business happens before our trucks set out for their daily deliveries. We first have to acquire the fresh quality produce that our customers enjoy. Management & Administration
While the “Partner Pride” philosophy empowers all employees to take personal responsibility for the work they perform for the Foster-Caviness team, our Management oversees the day-to-day operations of our facilities, fleet, and employees. They are supported by a talented group of administrative professionals, providing everything from Accounts Payable and Receivable, to IT Management and Technical Support. Our Management understands that the success of Foster-Caviness is closely tied to the personal success of its team, and strives to create an environment where each team member is allowed to perform to the best of his or her talents.
